Player1 Sim Gear is an authorised Australian Heusinkveld dealer. Both sets use a load cell brake that measures force rather than travel, which is what makes braking repeatable. The difference is how much force they are built to take and how finely they adjust. Heusinkveld recommends the Ultimate+ if you drive quick Formula cars or fast GT cars, because the Sprint's 65kg maximum brake force sits slightly below what those cars typically need. For most sim racers chasing consistency, the Sprint is the one Heusinkveld points to.

The Heusinkveld One Steering Wheel
The Heusinkveld One is a wireless, Formula-inspired wheel with a fibre-reinforced composite body weighing 1024 grams, so your direct drive base has less inertia to fight. It carries 14 buttons, four push rotaries, two 7-way switches, 2-way magnetic shift paddles, dual clutch paddles and nine RGB telemetry LEDs supported natively by SimHub.
It talks to your PC through its own pre-paired USB dongle rather than your wheelbase's electronics, and bolts to any quick release with a 50.8mm pattern. For a 70mm quick release, add the Heusinkveld Steering Wheel Adapter, which converts the hub to 70mm and adds 15mm of depth. PC only.

If your brake is a Simucube ActivePedal, Heusinkveld's add-ons let you complete the set with an Ultimate+ throttle, or an Ultimate+ throttle and clutch. The throttle has a 1-way hydraulic damper to smooth throttle application, and the clutch has a regressive spring mechanism and a 2-way hydraulic damper. These add-ons have no controller of their own: they only work with a Simucube ActivePedal, each Heusinkveld pedal needs a Simucube ActivePedal Connector, and calibration is done in Simucube's software rather than SmartControl.

What is the difference between Heusinkveld Sprint and Ultimate+ pedals?
The Sprint brake handles up to 65kg on a 120kg load cell with 6 brake resistance settings, and its USB controller is built into the brake pedal. The Ultimate+ brake handles up to 140kg on a 200kg load cell with 9 resistance settings, adds adjustable hydraulic damping and uses an external controller box. Heusinkveld recommends the Ultimate+ for quick Formula and GT cars and the Sprint for most other sim racers.
Do Heusinkveld pedals use a load cell?
Yes. The brake uses a force-sensitive load cell, 120kg on the Sprint and 200kg on the Ultimate+, so it responds to how hard you press rather than how far the pedal moves, just like a real car. The throttle and clutch use a position-sensitive sensor that measures travel.
Will Heusinkveld pedals work with my wheelbase?
On PC, yes. Heusinkveld pedals have their own USB controller and connect directly to your computer, so they work independently of your wheelbase brand, whether that is Simucube, Simagic, MOZA, Fanatec, Asetek or Conspit. You do not need your base to pass the pedals through.
Do Heusinkveld products work on PlayStation or Xbox?
No. Heusinkveld lists its pedals, handbrake and MagShift as PC products for Windows 10 or newer, and states they cannot be used on Xbox or PlayStation. The Heusinkveld One wheel is also PC only. If you race on console, call us and we will point you at hardware that suits your platform.
Can I start with two pedals and add a clutch later?
Yes. We stock the Sprint Clutch Only and the Ultimate+ Clutch Only in black and silver, so a 2-pedal Sprint or Ultimate+ set can become a 3-pedal set without replacing anything.
Is a baseplate included with Heusinkveld pedal sets?
No, the baseplate is optional. The pedals come with mounting hardware and need a very rigid base: aluminium profile beams, a thick drilled metal plate, or the matching Sprint Baseplate or Ultimate+ Baseplate. The baseplates add a height-adjustable heel plate and slotted lateral adjustment for each pedal.
Can I mount Heusinkveld pedals on a wheel stand or on the floor?
Heusinkveld says no. A full-frame rig with a solid connection between the pedals and the seat is always required, because the brake forces are high enough to flex standard pedal plates. The baseplates are not designed for floor use or for wheel stands without that solid connection.
Does the Heusinkveld rest pedal fit a 3-pedal set?
Only on your own rig. On a Sprint or Ultimate+ baseplate the Rest Pedal fits alongside a 2-pedal set, not a 3-pedal set. It can also mount directly to a rig or a third-party baseplate that accepts bolts or T-nuts, and it is made from 4mm laser cut stainless steel so you can brace against it.
What is Heusinkveld SmartControl?
SmartControl is Heusinkveld's software for calibrating its pedals, handbrake and MagShift. It sets maximum brake force, custom output curves and deadzones, saves and loads profiles, and lets you change pedal settings without recalibrating. Heusinkveld lists SmartControl and SmartControl Live as the software for these products.
Do I need the elastomer kit for my Heusinkveld pedals?
Usually not. The Sprint Elastomer Kit upgrades older Sprint brakes to Heusinkveld's injection-moulded thermoset elastomers. Sprint pedals bought from December 2021 onwards most likely have them already: if your elastomers are marked with length and soft or hard, you have the current spec. The Ultimate+ Elastomer Kit is a replacement set, not an upgrade, for refreshing or replacing lost Ultimate+ elastomers.
Can I use Heusinkveld pedals with a Simucube ActivePedal?
Yes, with the dedicated add-ons. Heusinkveld's Ultimate+ throttle, or throttle and clutch, pair with a Simucube ActivePedal brake. They need one Simucube ActivePedal Connector per Heusinkveld pedal, they only work with an ActivePedal, and they are calibrated in Simucube's software rather than SmartControl.
What makes the Heusinkveld handbrake different?
It is load cell based, using a 120kg load cell for up to 22kg of force at the lever, with a 2-stage spring and elastomer system for a progressive feel. Three elastomers give soft, medium or stiff settings, the lever mounts horizontally or vertically with up to 26 degrees of fine adjustment, and the included adapter plate adds up to 22.5 degrees of yaw.
How does the MagShift sequential shifter work?
The MagShift uses a patented magnetic mechanism to give the clunk of a gear engaging without wear parts. Overall force, upshift and downshift adjust separately, with peak force from 4.5 to 11kg, and its three buttons can be mapped to car functions. It mounts to your rig with the included U-shaped bracket, which adjusts for yaw, height and tilt.
Which quick release does the Heusinkveld One fit?
The One has an integrated 50.8mm threaded hub, so it bolts directly to any quick release with a 50.8mm pattern using the supplied M5 bolts. For a 70mm quick release, Heusinkveld offers an optional Steering Wheel Adapter (50.8mm to 70mm) that adds 15mm of depth. Because the wheel connects wirelessly to your PC, it does not rely on your wheelbase's wheel-side electronics.
