World's First Retina-Level VR
Pimax Crystal Super
See Every Detail. Miss Nothing.
3840 × 3840 per eye. 57 PPD. Up to 140° field of view. Swappable optical engines. The definitive PCVR headset for flight sim, sim racing, and beyond.
Why Crystal Super
Technology that changes what VR can be
Retina-level clarity — up to 57 PPD
The world's first consumer VR headset to reach the threshold at which individual pixels become invisible to the naked eye. Cockpit gauges, distant terrain, on-screen text — all rendered with surgical sharpness.
Massive field of view — up to 140°
From 106° (57 PPD) to 140° (Ultrawide), the Crystal Super surrounds you with the virtual world rather than framing it. No other headset at this resolution comes close to this field of view.
120Hz Dynamic Foveated Rendering
Eye tracking built directly into the lens barrel — 10 infrared sensors, captured at 120 fps. DFR renders at full resolution only where you look, dramatically reducing GPU load while maintaining peak visual quality.
Swappable optical engines
The Crystal Super is a platform, not just a headset. The entire optical engine — panel, lenses, display — is field-replaceable. Upgrade to Micro-OLED or Ultrawide at any time without buying a new headset.
Local Dimming 2.0 — 1,152 zones/eye
The first local dimming system engineered specifically for VR. Deep blacks and vivid contrast approaching Micro-OLED quality — with 10,000:1 dynamic contrast and no burn-in risk.
Inside-out tracking — no base stations
Four SLAM cameras map your room and track both headset and controllers without external sensors. Setup takes minutes. Optional Lighthouse faceplate available for SteamVR precision tracking.
Choose your configuration
Four Crystal Super models — one interchangeable platform
Every model shares the same headset body, controllers, SLAM tracking, eye tracking, and ergonomics. The difference is the optical engine — and it's always swappable.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Does the Crystal Super work with my Steam library?
Yes. The Crystal Super runs all SteamVR, OpenXR, and OpenVR applications through Pimax Play. Your entire existing Steam VR library is compatible out of the box.
Do I need to buy base stations?
No — inside-out tracking works without any external hardware. A separate Lighthouse faceplate is available if you prefer SteamVR base station tracking precision, but it's entirely optional.
Can I upgrade to a different optical engine later?
Yes. Individual optical engines are available for separate purchase at any time. The Ultrawide engine is approx. $617 AUD and the Micro-OLED engine is approx. $1,080 AUD. No tools required to swap.
What is the difference between the 57 PPD and 50 PPD models?
Both are QLED models at the same price. The 57 PPD model offers higher pixel density for reading fine detail (cockpit gauges, distant text) with a 106° horizontal FOV. The 50 PPD model widens the field of view to 127° — the most popular configuration for sim racing and general immersion. Both are at retina-level clarity.
Is the Crystal Super wireless?
No. The Crystal Super is a PCVR-only headset that requires its 5m fibre optic DisplayPort cable at all times. It does not support wireless streaming or standalone operation.
What happens if I don't pay the Prime fee after my trial?
If the Prime fee isn't paid after the 14-day trial period, the Pimax Play software will stop functioning. You can resume use at any time by completing the one-time Prime fee payment via the Pimax Play app.
Is the Prime fee a subscription?
No — it's a one-time payment. Once paid, the headset and Pimax Play software are permanently yours with no ongoing fees of any kind. The Prime status is tied to the headset's serial number and transfers with the device if you sell it.
Does it work with laptops?
Yes, if your laptop has a direct GPU output via MiniDisplayPort or USB-C that supports DisplayPort 1.4a at 8K/60Hz. Check your laptop's GPU output specifications before purchasing. Verify via the NVIDIA Control Panel — PhysX settings screen.
Which Crystal Super model is right for me?
It depends on what matters most to you. Choose the 57 PPD QLED if you fly detailed aircraft in DCS World or MSFS 2024 and need to read cockpit gauges and distant instruments with maximum sharpness — this is the highest pixel density VR headset in the world. Choose the 50 PPD QLED if you want near-retina clarity with a wider 127° field of view — the most popular all-round configuration, and identically priced to the 57 PPD. Choose the Ultrawide QLED if you sim race and peripheral immersion is your priority — the 140° FOV wraps the world around you more than any other headset available. Choose the 8K Micro-OLED if you fly or race in dark environments (night ops in DCS, space in Elite Dangerous) and need true blacks and infinite contrast that only Sony Micro-OLED can deliver. Not sure? Call us on 0488 385 870 and we'll help you choose.
What else do I need to complete my sim setup with the Crystal Super?
The Crystal Super is a PCVR headset — it needs a powerful PC with at least an RTX 3080 GPU and a DisplayPort 1.4a output. Beyond that, the complete sim experience depends on your discipline. For sim racing, you'll want a direct drive wheelbase and load-cell pedals (we stock Moza, Simagic, Simucube, and Heusinkveld), a dedicated racing cockpit (Trak Racer and Next Level Racing are our most popular), and optionally a motion platform or ButtKicker for haptic feedback. For flight simulation, you'll need a HOTAS or yoke and throttle, rudder pedals, and a flight cockpit or mount. Player1 Sim Gear stocks everything you need to build the complete setup — browse our Sim Packages, Racing Cockpits, and Wheel & Pedal Combos. Not sure where to start? Call us on 0488 385 870 and we'll build you a package.
Do you ship the Pimax Crystal Super to all of Australia? How long does delivery take?
Yes — we ship the Crystal Super Australia-wide including metro and regional areas. Player1 Sim Gear is the official Australian Pimax distributor, so stock is held locally and doesn't need to be imported from overseas. Delivery timeframes vary by location and stock availability — contact us on 0488 385 870 or for current lead times and express shipping options. All orders are fully trackable and insured.
Why buy the Pimax Crystal Super from Player1 Sim Gear rather than overseas?
Player1 Sim Gear is the official Australian Pimax distributor. Buying from us means your warranty is honoured locally — no sending your headset overseas for repairs, no grey-market support complications. You get full Australian Consumer Law protection, local warranty support handled by us, Australian stock (no import delays), GST-inclusive pricing with a valid Australian tax invoice, and a real person you can call on 0488 385 870 if anything goes wrong. We've been in the sim gear business for years and have the reviews to back it up. Buying from an international retailer or grey-market reseller can void your Australian warranty and leave you without support if there's a problem.
What kind of support does Player1 Sim Gear offer after purchase?
We're a specialist sim gear retailer — not a generalist electronics store. Our team actually uses this equipment. We offer pre-sale advice to help you choose the right model and GPU for your specific sim title, setup support after delivery (we can walk you through Pimax Play configuration, SteamVR settings, and DFR tuning), and warranty handling managed locally. You can call us directly on 0488 385 870, message us via the site, or visit our support page. We're rated 5 stars by our customers and we take that seriously.

Pimax Payment Options
Prime Payment vs Full Payment — what's the difference?
New Pimax headsets may be available in two payment models. Where both are offered, the hardware is exactly the same — same headset, same accessories, same warranty. The only difference is how, and when, you pay. Prime lets you pay less upfront and try before you fully commit; Full Payment is one simple payment with nothing more to pay.
Prime Payment
Pay a lower entry price, then decide
- Pay a lower entry price upfront to Player1 Sim Gear (in AUD, inc. GST) and your headset ships complete — nothing locked or limited.
- You get a genuine 14-day home trial from the date of delivery.
- Keeping it? Pay the one-time remaining Prime fee directly to Pimax through the Pimax Play app (charged in USD) to unlock it permanently.
- It's a single payment — no subscription, no ongoing cost, no credit check.
- Your paid-in-full status is tied to the headset and transfers with it if you ever sell it.
- Change your mind in the 14 days? Refund of the entry price, less shipping and a 10% restocking fee.
Full Payment
Pay the complete price upfront
- Pay the complete price once, upfront — there is no secondary fee and nothing further to pay.
- The headset arrives fully unlocked and ready to use — no Pimax Play unlock step.
- Billed entirely in AUD (inc. GST) — the simplest, single-invoice option.
- No second payment to Pimax and no currency conversion to think about.
- Still covered by the same 14-day return guarantee and manufacturer warranty as Prime.
- Best if you already know this is the headset for you.

Not sure which model suits you?
Our team runs this gear every day and can talk you through Prime vs Full Payment, pricing and the 14-day trial for your chosen headset.
Player1 Sim Gear is an authorised Australian Pimax distributor. Prime entry pricing and the remaining Prime fee are confirmed at checkout for your chosen edition; the Prime fee is paid directly to Pimax in USD via the Pimax Play app after your trial. Full and current returns terms are set out in the official Pimax Returns & Refunds policy. Your statutory rights under the Australian Consumer Law are unaffected. All AUD pricing includes GST.
Pimax 14-Day Trial & Returns
Try your Pimax headset at home — then decide
VR is personal. The right field of view, comfort and clarity depend on your own eyes, face shape and PC. That's why every new Pimax headset we sell comes with a genuine 14-day trial through the Pimax Prime program — so you can experience it in your own sim before you fully commit. Below is exactly how the trial, the keep-it payment and the returns process work when you buy from Player1 Sim Gear, an authorised Australian Pimax distributor.
How the Pimax Prime trial works
Pimax Prime is a two-step payment model. You pay a lower entry price upfront, receive the complete headset, and have 14 days from delivery to decide whether to keep it. There's no credit check and no financing approval — you simply try it, then either pay the remainder to keep it or send it back.
Pay the entry price & receive your headset
Order the Prime version and pay the upfront entry price. Your headset ships complete with everything included for your chosen edition — nothing is locked or limited during the trial.
Try it for 14 days from delivery
Use it in your own setup with your own games. The 14-day window is counted from the date your order is delivered, giving you a real, no-pressure trial in the only environment that matters — yours.
Keep it or return it
Love it? Pay the one-time Prime fee to own it outright. Not for you? Start a return within the 14 days for a refund, less the restocking fee and shipping outlined below.
The 14-day return guarantee
Every newly purchased Pimax Crystal Light, Crystal Super and Dream Air is covered by a 14-day return guarantee. This applies whether you bought the Prime (try-first) version or the full-payment version. Player1 Sim Gear honours the same 14-day return policy that Pimax operates, with local Australian handling.
If you keep it
- On the Prime version, pay the one-time remaining Prime fee through the Pimax Play app to unlock the headset permanently.
- It's a single payment — no subscription and no ongoing cost once the Prime fee is paid.
- Your Prime (paid-in-full) status is tied to the headset and transfers with it if you ever sell it.
- Prefer to skip the two-step process? A full-payment version is available that includes the complete cost with no secondary fee.
- If the Prime fee is not paid after the trial, the Pimax Play software stops functioning until the one-time payment is completed.
If you return it (change of mind)
- 10% restocking fee — 10% of the headset's MSRP is deducted from your refund as a restocking and inspection fee.
- Return shipping is paid by you. We recommend an insured, trackable carrier.
- The original outbound shipping you paid is not refunded.
- Your refund is issued to the original payment method, typically within 3–5 business days after the returned headset passes inspection.
- Returned headsets undergo a factory-standard inspection and are not resold as new.
Faulty or defective headsets are handled differently
The restocking fee and return-shipping costs above apply only to change-of-mind returns. If your headset has a genuine fault through no fault of your own, it is covered by its manufacturer warranty: any qualifying fault is repaired or replaced at no cost to you, including shipping, handled locally here in Australia. You also retain your full rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which exist alongside — and are not limited by — this returns policy.
What's eligible for return
To qualify for a change-of-mind return within the 14-day window, the headset should be in clean, undamaged, fully working condition with no signs of misuse, and returned with its included accessories. Items damaged through accident or misuse may not be eligible, or may be subject to additional deductions assessed at inspection.
| Scenario | What you pay / receive |
|---|---|
| Keep it (Prime) | Pay the one-time remaining Prime fee via Pimax Play — yours permanently, no subscription. |
| Keep it (Full payment) | Nothing further — the full price was paid upfront with no secondary fee. |
| Change-of-mind return | Refund of the entry price paid, less a 10% restocking fee and return shipping; original outbound shipping not refunded. |
| Faulty / warranty | Repaired or replaced at no cost, including shipping — handled locally in Australia. |
Thinking about a return, or not sure yet?
Talk to us before the 14 days are up and we'll walk you through your options. Our team runs this gear every day and can often solve a comfort or setup issue so you keep the headset you wanted in the first place.
Player1 Sim Gear is an authorised Australian Pimax distributor and honours Pimax's 14-day return policy with local handling. Of course, it may not always be possible to process your order on the same day, so please allow 1-2 business days for processing. If we encounter any delays we will let you know via email.
To maximise efficiency, Player1 Sim Gear ships all products in their original packaging straight from our warehouses or directly from our suppliers and manufacturers. Orders may be shipped in part or in full, and different courier companies may be used for different parts of your order. Please allow 2-8 business days for delivery. Please advise your phone number at checkout so we can get in touch with you if there is any problem. If you should receive a product that has been damaged while in transit please contact us immediately.
Please make sure someone will be available to receive your order, otherwise, your package may be diverted to your local post office or to your local shipping depot. We recommend all deliveries are sent to a business address to avoid any re-delivery charges. Note: Player1 Sim Gear will only ship to confirmed addresses, we cannot ship to PO Boxes sorry.

We will contact you to arrange a refund or alternate product if an item you have ordered is out-of-stock or unavailable for immediate shipment. You may cancel your order at any time prior to shipping.

You will have the option then to amend or cancel your order at no cost.
