Simagic TB-NEO Handbrake
A 100kg load cell handbrake built as a platform, not a dead end.

The TB-NEO is Simagic's modular handbrake. A 100kg load cell read at 12-bit resolution gives you 4,096 steps of pressure sensing, and the resistance comes from a replaceable elastomer stack you tune by hand rather than a fixed spring. It mounts horizontally for a road-car layout or vertically for rally and drift, across five angle positions, and it converts to a pull-type setup using different mounting holes. Later, the same unit takes an optional hydraulic module or a haptic reactor. Available from Player1 Sim Gear, your authorised Australian Simagic dealer, shipping Australia-wide.

We actually run this gear

Our team are sim racers. Call us and you get someone who has set one of these up, not a script.

One handbrake that keeps changing to suit you.

Load cell sensing

100kg load cell, read at 12-bit

Pressure, not position

A real handbrake responds to how hard you pull, not how far the lever moves. The TB-NEO uses a 100kg high-precision load cell sampled at 12-bit resolution, which gives 4,096 discrete steps between nothing and full lock.

  • 4,096 counts of resolution across the pull range, so partial-lock rotation is controllable rather than on or off.
  • Consistent by design. Force sensing does not drift with lever wear the way a potentiometer can.
  • Tunable dead zone so the point where braking starts is where your hand expects it.

Elastomer stack

Feel you tune with your hands

No soldering, no guesswork

Resistance comes from a stack of replaceable rubber elastomers and springs rather than one fixed spring rate. Swapping the stack changes how the lever loads up, where it firms, and whether it stops hard or squashes into a progressive wall.

  • Comes with a full elastomer pack: two yellow springs, three damper spacers pre-installed, eight black O-rings, eight green O-rings and nine green T-type elastomers.
  • Four documented tuning schemes from Simagic, so you have a starting point instead of trial and error.
  • Consumable, not disposable. Elastomers are replaceable parts, so the handbrake does not age out.

Mounting and geometry

Horizontal, vertical, or pull-type

Five angles, adjustable height

Lay the lever over for a road-car handbrake position, stand it up for rally and drift, or reconfigure it to pull-type using the alternative mounting holes. Five angle positions and adjustable height mean you can put the grip exactly where your hand falls.

  • Five angle positions plus height adjustment, set with hand tools.
  • Pull-type conversion via different mounting holes, no extra parts needed.
  • Slotted base for mounting to a rig, a side mount or a desk clamp.

What you actually get for the money

An upgrade path, not a replacement cycle

The TB-NEO takes an optional hydraulic module and an optional haptic reactor later. You buy the platform once and add to it, instead of reselling to move up.

Hydraulic module ready

Simagic's optional P-HYS and P-HYSi hydraulic modules replace the elastomer damping with genuine fluid damping, for the dead-weight feel of a real hydraulic handbrake.

Haptic reactor ready

The optional Simagic P-HPR haptic reactor adds telemetry-driven vibration through the lever, so you feel the rear axle let go rather than only seeing it.

Two ways to connect

USB-C straight to a PC, or CAN into an Alpha series wheelbase. Alpha EVO series bases connect over RJ45 using CANFD, keeping the handbrake inside the Simagic ecosystem.

Serious materials for the price

Aluminium alloy through the load path with ABS and PC structural parts, and a POM handle. This is not a bent-steel bracket with a spring in it.

Full software control

SimPro Manager exposes travel, spring tension, linearity, force and dead zone, plus linear, exponential, logarithmic, S-curve and fully custom response curves.

Four starting points, then make it yours

Scheme A

Light and smooth

The softest of the four. Long, progressive travel with a gentle build. Good for learning where the lock point is, and for drivers who use the handbrake constantly in drift.

Scheme B

Firm stop

Short travel into a hard wall. Closest to a competition hydraulic lever. You brace against it and modulate with pressure rather than movement.

Scheme C

Dual stage

A softer initial phase that firms up part-way through the pull, giving you a clear physical cue for where partial lock ends and full lock begins.

Scheme D

Damped, hydraulic-like

The most damped stack, aimed at approximating hydraulic feel using the standard elastomers before you commit to the optional hydraulic module.

SimPro Manager

Simagic's SimPro Manager is the same application that configures Simagic wheelbases and pedals, so the TB-NEO drops into a setup you may already be running. Everything mechanical you can adjust with tools, you can also shape in software, and profiles save per car or per discipline.

Response curves

Linear, exponential, logarithmic and S-curve presets, plus fully custom curves you draw yourself.

Travel and dead zone

Set where input begins and ends, so the usable range matches the way you actually pull the lever.

Force and linearity

Trim how the measured pressure maps to in-game handbrake input, independent of the physical stack.

One ecosystem

Managed alongside your Simagic base and pedals rather than through a separate utility.

How the TB-NEO connects

The TB-NEO works as a standalone USB device on a PC, or as part of a Simagic system over CAN. You do not need a Simagic wheelbase to use it.

Connection Supported Notes
PC over USB-C Yes Standalone. Works regardless of which wheelbase you run
Simagic Alpha series base (CAN) Yes Connects into the base rather than a separate USB port
Simagic Alpha EVO series base (CANFD) Yes Over RJ45
Non-Simagic wheelbases Yes Use the USB-C connection, the handbrake is independent of the base
Consoles No PC only

Because it presents as its own USB device on PC, the TB-NEO sits happily alongside a MOZA, Fanatec, Simucube or Heusinkveld setup. If you are running an Alpha or Alpha EVO base and want it wired into the ecosystem instead, call us on 0488 385 870 and we will confirm the right cable for your base.

Frequently asked questions

The basics

What makes the TB-NEO different from a normal sim handbrake?

Two things. First, it senses pressure with a 100kg load cell rather than lever position, so partial lock is controllable. Second, it is modular: the resistance comes from a replaceable elastomer stack, and the same unit later accepts an optional hydraulic module or a haptic reactor. Most handbrakes at this level are a fixed spring and a sensor, and that is all they will ever be.

Is a 100kg load cell a lot for a handbrake?

It is the useful range rather than a target you should hit. You are not meant to pull 100kg. A high-rated cell measuring across a wide range means the portion you actually use stays precise and does not saturate at the top of a hard pull.

What does 12-bit resolution mean in practice?

12-bit gives 4,096 discrete steps between no pull and full pull. In driving terms that is the difference between a handbrake that is effectively on or off and one where you can hold the rear at a chosen slip angle through a drift or a hairpin.

Do I need a Simagic wheelbase to use it?

No. The TB-NEO connects to a PC over USB-C as its own device and works with any wheelbase, including MOZA, Fanatec, Simucube and Thrustmaster. If you do run a Simagic Alpha or Alpha EVO base, you can instead wire it into the base over CAN or CANFD.

Does it work on PlayStation or Xbox?

No. The TB-NEO is a PC device. Consoles do not accept third-party handbrakes of this type.

Feel, tuning and mounting

How do I change how the handbrake feels?

Mechanically, you swap the elastomer stack. The kit includes yellow springs, damper spacers and three types of rubber elastomer, and Simagic publish four recommended schemes ranging from light and progressive to a short firm stop. On top of that, SimPro Manager lets you shape travel, dead zone, force and the response curve in software.

What are the four elastomer schemes?

Scheme A is light and smooth with long progressive travel. Scheme B is a firm stop with short travel, closest to a competition hydraulic lever. Scheme C is dual stage, softer at first then firming part-way through. Scheme D is the most damped, aimed at approximating hydraulic feel using the included parts.

Can I mount it vertically for rally and drift?

Yes. The lever installs horizontally for a road-car layout or vertically for rally and drifting, across five angle positions with adjustable height. It also converts to a pull-type configuration using different mounting holes, with no extra parts required.

Will it fit my rig or my desk?

The base is slotted for bolting to an aluminium profile rig or a side mount, and it can be desk-clamped with a suitable clamp. Mounting patterns differ between cockpit brands, so if you want certainty before ordering, tell us your rig and we will check it with you.

Do the elastomers wear out?

They are consumables by design, like brake pads. That is the point of the system: instead of the handbrake feeling worse over years, you fit fresh elastomers and it returns to as-new, or you change the stack and give it a different character entirely.

Upgrades and ecosystem

What does the optional hydraulic module do?

Simagic's optional P-HYS and P-HYSi modules replace elastomer damping with real fluid damping, which produces the heavy, dead, incompressible feel of a genuine hydraulic handbrake. It is an upgrade you can add later to the same TB-NEO rather than buying a different handbrake.

What does the haptic reactor add?

The optional Simagic P-HPR haptic reactor drives vibration from live telemetry, so the lever communicates what the rear axle is doing. It is the same reactor family used on Simagic pedals.

How does the TB-NEO compare to the TB-1 and TB-RS?

The TB-1 is the established fixed load-cell handbrake, simple and proven. The TB-RS is the hydraulic flagship. The TB-NEO sits between them in intent: it starts as a load-cell handbrake but is designed to be upgraded toward hydraulic and haptic behaviour over time. If you want hydraulic feel immediately, look at the TB-RS. If you want to start now and grow, the TB-NEO is the one.

Which games and sims does it work with?

Any PC title that accepts a handbrake axis, which covers Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione, Assetto Corsa EVO, iRacing, Dirt Rally 2.0, EA Sports WRC, BeamNG.drive, rFactor 2 and Automobilista 2. It presents as a standard axis, so you bind it like any other control.
