16 N·m of Constant Torque, in This Size

The Moza R16 Ultra is a compact direct drive wheel base that holds 16 N·m of constant torque, not a peak figure it cannot sustain. A next-generation zero-cogging flat-wire motor, a 21-bit magnetic encoder with 2.09 million points of resolution and a 600 MHz processor combine with the NexGen Force Feedback Algorithm U1 to deliver detail you can actually feel: kerb texture, traction loss and weight transfer, all through a CNC-machined aluminium housing that fits a desk mount or a full aluminium profile rig.

Ultra performance, finer detail

Engineered around the motor

Torque figures are easy to quote. What matters is how smoothly that torque is delivered and how much detail survives the trip from the game to your hands. The R16 Ultra was built from the motor outwards to protect that detail.

Compact by design

Serious torque, small footprint

A compact, motorsport-inspired profile that fits a wheel stand or desk mount as readily as a full aluminium profile cockpit, without giving up the torque and thermal headroom of a much larger base.

Zero cogging

All-new flat-wire motor

MOZA's next-generation custom flat-wire motor packs 12 percent higher torque density than similarly sized competitors. True zero cogging means ultra-smooth rotation with none of the notchy detent feel that gives cheaper bases away.

16 N·m constant

Sustained, not peak

With more motor headroom, the R16 Ultra delivers 16 N·m of constant torque, so the force feedback you feel on lap one is the force feedback you still feel at the end of a long stint.

2.09 million points of resolution

A high-resolution 21-bit magnetic encoder feeding a 600 MHz processor means finer force feedback detail and more precise steering, so small inputs and small surface changes both register instead of being rounded away.

Extreme durability

Slip ring built to last

MOZA's slip ring is rated for over 10 million rotations and transfers data at 2 M/s, giving a solid connection and lag-free communication between the wheel and the base.

Stops the oscillation

The base detects when your hands leave the wheel, quickly stops any oscillation and safely centres it, which matters a great deal at 16 N·m.

Software

NexGen Force Feedback Algorithm U1

The R16 Ultra runs MOZA's U1 algorithm, which is where the extra hardware headroom turns into something you can feel and tune. Everything below is adjustable in MOZA Pit House on PC, or from the MOZA mobile app.

Moza Pit House software showing R16 Ultra force feedback settings and telemetry adjustments
  • Force feedback interpolation blends adjacent signals for smoother torque delivery while preserving road texture and kerb detail
  • Game FFB decoupling breaks the signal into individually adjustable components so you tune each element separately
  • Force feedback equaliser filters out noise and keeps the cues that matter
  • Custom non-linear FFB curve tuning helps you sense traction loss sooner
  • Customisable telemetry effects for gear shifts, engine vibration and ABS in supported titles
  • Friction intensity range increased by 300 percent and damping by 200 percent over the previous algorithm
  • Intelligent thermal management with real-time temperature monitoring and smart torque regulation
  • Cloud-based app configuration, so a setup moves with you to a new device
Why the R16 Ultra

What you actually get for the money

  • 16 N·m constant torque

A sustained figure rather than a peak, with the motor headroom to hold it through long stints instead of tapering off.

  • Zero-cogging flat-wire motor

12 percent higher torque density than similarly sized competitors, with genuinely smooth rotation and no notchy detents.

  • 21-bit encoder and 600 MHz CPU

2,097,152 points of resolution feeding a fast processor, so fine detail survives instead of being rounded off.

  • Native iRacing support

360 Hz high-frequency force feedback and Wheel LFE, for richer detail and a more refined steering feel in iRacing.

  • Intelligent thermal management

An upgraded cooling system with real-time temperature monitoring and smart torque regulation, so it runs cooler under sustained load.

  • Complete ecosystem ports

Pedals, dash, shifter, handbrake and emergency stop all plug straight into the base, keeping the rig tidy.

Range comparison

Where the R16 Ultra sits

All three Ultra bases share the same flat-wire motor platform, 21-bit encoder and NexGen algorithm. The difference is torque, size and how much rig you need to hold them.

Model Torque Best for
Moza R16 Ultra 16 N·m constant The compact Ultra. Serious torque for GT, formula and endurance racing in a base that still suits a wheel stand or mid-size cockpit.
Moza R21 Ultra 21 N·m constant A step up in raw force for drivers who want more loading through the wheel and have a rigid cockpit to bolt it to.
Moza R25 Ultra 25 N·m constant The flagship. Maximum torque for competitive and professional use on a full aluminium profile rig.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the Moza R16 Ultra?
The R16 Ultra is MOZA's compact Ultra-series direct drive wheel base. It delivers 16 N·m of constant torque from a zero-cogging flat-wire motor, paired with a 21-bit magnetic encoder, a 600 MHz processor and the NexGen Force Feedback Algorithm U1.
Is 16 Nm enough for sim racing?
For the overwhelming majority of drivers, yes. 16 N·m is well beyond what most people run day to day, and because it is a constant rather than a peak figure you get consistent force through long stints. Step up to the R21 Ultra or R25 Ultra only if you specifically want more loading and have a rigid cockpit for it.
What does constant torque mean?
It is the torque the base can hold continuously, rather than a short peak it can only reach briefly. A base quoted at a peak figure can feel strong for a lap and then fade, which is exactly what the R16 Ultra's motor headroom and thermal management are designed to avoid.
What is zero cogging and why does it matter?
Cogging is the notchy, magnetic detent feeling as a motor rotates. The R16 Ultra uses a custom flat-wire motor engineered for true zero cogging, so rotation is smooth and the only thing you feel through the wheel is the force feedback itself.
Does it support iRacing natively?
Yes. The R16 Ultra has native iRacing support with 360 Hz high-frequency force feedback and Wheel LFE, for richer detail and a more refined steering feel.
Which other games does it work with?
Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione, Le Mans Ultimate, EA SPORTS WRC, the F1 series, Automobilista 2, rFactor 2, RaceRoom, Project CARS, Forza Motorsport and Horizon, DiRT Rally 2.0, BeamNG.drive, Euro Truck Simulator 2, American Truck Simulator and Farming Simulator, among many others.
How do I mount it?
Bottom, front and side mounting are all supported. That covers a wheel stand, a tubular cockpit and an aluminium profile rig. At 16 N·m a rigid mount matters, so a desk clamp is not the right answer for this base.
What ports does it have?
Power, PC, pedals, dashboard, shifter, handbrake and an emergency stop switch. MOZA peripherals plug directly into the base, so you do not need a USB hub or a pile of extra cables.
Do I need a quick release?
Quick release is supported on the R16 Ultra, and MOZA wheels attach through it. If you plan to swap between a GT rim and a formula wheel, a quick release is what makes that a few seconds rather than a job.
Does it get hot?
MOZA fitted the R16 Ultra with a fully upgraded intelligent cooling system. Real-time temperature monitoring and smart torque regulation work together to keep performance stable through long sessions.
What is the RGB lighting for?
Two RGB strips along the top edges give 16.7 million colours with customisable effects, and they can show real-time telemetry: ABS, traction control, gear shifts and flag signals.
Can I tune the force feedback?
Extensively. MOZA Pit House gives you FFB interpolation, game FFB decoupling, an equaliser, custom non-linear curve tuning and telemetry-based effects, plus per-game profiles. The mobile app lets you adjust on the fly and move a setup to a new device.
Which wheels fit it?
The R16 Ultra takes the MOZA wheel range through the standard quick release. Browse our MOZA wheels to pick a GT, formula or round rim to suit what you race.
Does it work on console?
No. The R16 Ultra is a PC wheel base. If you need Xbox or PlayStation support, talk to us and we will point you at a base and wheel combination that carries the right licence.
What warranty does it come with in Australia?
As the authorised Australian dealer for MOZA Racing, Player1 Sim Gear handles warranty locally in Queensland with no overseas returns required, backed by Australian Consumer Law.
Do you offer free shipping in Australia?
Yes. MOZA products ship free Australia wide, with freight from our Queensland base. We are not shipping MOZA to New Zealand at the moment.
Is the price in AUD and does it include GST?
Yes, the price shown is in Australian dollars and includes GST, from a local authorised MOZA dealer with no hidden import fees.
Can you help me build the whole rig around it?
Absolutely. Message us and we can match the R16 Ultra to a wheel, pedals, a shifter or handbrake and a cockpit that is rigid enough to do 16 N·m justice.
